Who are you and what do you do?
We are Nathalie and Eleanor, co-owners of reclaym studio in Norwich. Nathalie is also known as 'by.noo ceramics' and Eleanor is 'eleanor torbati ceramics'. We are 2 ceramicists living and working in Norwich. As independent potters, we partake in art/craft markets across Norfolk, run our own individual online shops, take commission orders and provide wholesale and trade for retail and eateries both in Norfolk and further afield. We have been in our current studio for just over a year and have really made our mark on the place in terms of our individual ceramic businesses but are in the process of setting up pottery workshops to be hosted in the space. We are looking to offer a range of workshops making sure we cater to individuals experience with clay so that people can get the most out of the sessions. We aim to add to an already bustling pottery scene that exists within Norfolk and share our love of the craft (and of our space) with everyone.
How and why did you settle on nozza to place roots for your business? (Are you from Norwich?
We were both born in Norwich and love the city and county of Norfolk so it was an easy choice to set up here but it was never an intention to develop into a public facing studio until a year or so ago. We both have our ceramic routes in Norfolk starting as hobby potters which quickly turned into a small obsession (which anyone who has fallen in love with the craft will tell you is very easily done!) Both of our individual businesses were fully established last year after a kick start through the COVID lockdown. During this time, things were closed so we decided to find a studio together and both invested in a wheel and kiln each. We were very lucky with finding a beautiful space which we have been making our own for the last year. Having tested the waters with a couple of open days, we are now ready to launch Reclaym Studio to the public in terms of clay workshops which we just can't wait to get started on.
What has been some of your favourite projects to work on?
We have worked on a number of projects recently, including the creation of new work for local stockists ‘Quarters Home’, a thoughtful online space, one that brings together homewares, eco-friendly products and artwork. Reclaym also hope to host seasonal open studio/market days to allow all to come gather and enjoy the space, browse a range of ceramics from our personal collections for sale and talk all things pots! We are so proud of the space we have created we are very excited to share is special place in as many ways as we can!
Where's your favourite place to visit in Norfolk and why?
There are so many wonderful places to visit in Norfolk, we truly are spoiled here. As both of us are dog owners, some of the favourites are places to take them on a good walk. The grounds at Blickling Hall (or most National Trust sites in Norfolk to be fair) are a firm favourite and certainly one which has such beautiful seasonal transitions which makes every visit a surprise as to what flowers, fauna or colours you will see. There are also plenty of other dog pals to have a good run around with. Some newly discovered walks are that of 'Tyrrel's Wood' which south of Norwich and is a lovely place to get lost, and the amazingly named 'The Mystical Woods' to the North of Norwich which is in the most unlikely location.
